Property & Development NSW (PDNSW) has won the Yardi Award for Best Workplace Design for its NSW Government Office Centre at 6 Parramatta Square (6PSQ) at this year’s Property Council of Australia Innovation and Excellence Awards.

Woods Bagot has partnered with PDNSW to deliver one of the largest office developments in Australian history, spanning 15 levels of integrated amenities at 6PSQ.

“The role of the traditional physical office has never been more important, providing a central collaborative space and cultural focal point,” notes Woods Bagot director Amanda Stanaway. “Like most of our clients, the NSW Government continues to evolve the way it selects its workforce, elevating the role of the physical office in enabling culture, connection and collaboration.”

“Inspired by the nearby Parramatta River, the design narrative embodies the highly energising ‘water’s edge’ through gentle, curved forms throughout the space. The planning solutions connect with an accessible and shared spine that provides support, energy and variety to enhance the efficiency of the workspace,” explains Weiss.

Two connecting staircases enhance connections by modifying the base structure, while a single-level connector between 6PSQ and 4PSQ connects 5,000 m2 of meeting, training and networking space for government employees and their partners.

Completed in 2022 in partnership with DBS Consulting and Built (base construction and execution), the 6PSQ project achieved a NABERS energy rating of 5.5 stars and a Green Star rating of 6 stars.

The overall 6 & 8 Parramatta Square project by Walker Corporation also won a Property Council of Australia People’s Choice Award. The project is the final tower in the prestigious mixed-use development designed by JPW Architects, offering 55 storeys of commercial space and delivering state-of-the-art workplaces, elevated retail outlets and a vibrant public realm.
