Hull FC have signed Canberra Raiders player Jordan Rapana for the next two seasons.

The 35-year-old was capped 16 times by New Zealand and represented the Cook Islands and the Maori Republic of New Zealand for the Gold Coast Titans and Raiders during a 16-year career.

Rapana, who can play as a centre or winger, has signed a contract with the Airlie Birds until the end of the 2026 season.

Wellington-born Rapana is the tenth most capped player for the Raiders in the club’s history, but his 10th and final season at the club ended prematurely when he broke his cheekbone against the Sydney Roosters earlier this month.

He was named New Zealand Rookie of the Year in 2016, Dally M. Winger of the Year in 2017 and the Raiders Player of the Year in 2021.

Hull’s director of rugby Richie Myler said Rapana had been brought in not just for his rugby talent, adding that he was an “excellent role model” for the younger players in the squad.

“Jordan has been a tremendous leadership figure for the Raiders and we hope that in 2025 he can transfer some of his qualities to us and become one of our own leaders,” Myler said.

Rapana said the appointment of Brisbane Broncos assistant John Cartwright as head coach at MKM Stadium next season was a significant factor in his decision to join the team.

“It was crucial for me that John Cartwright gave me the opportunity to make my debut for Titans, so him signing for Hull FC was a big step for me towards signing for the club,” he said.

“I have always liked a challenge and I think playing in the Super League will be a challenge.

It’s a tough, physical league but that’s what my game is based on so I’m really looking forward to getting there and giving it a go.
