FOOTBALL

Catholic Fisherman 31, Portsmouth Notre Dame 16: It took two days for the Irish to seal an away win over the Titans in a friendly match.

Fisher Catholic (2-1) led 7-0 Friday night before the game was suspended due to weather. Play resumed Saturday afternoon and the Irish dominated, leading 31-6 in the second half before the Titans scored a late touchdown. It was Fisher Catholic’s second straight win after losing the season opener.

Fisher Catholic had a number of standout performances. Gage Armstrong rushed for 154 yards on 25 attempts and scored a touchdown, including 104 in the fourth quarter. He scored a touchdown on a 38-yard run.

Cross-country race summary: Lancaster Girls Cross Country Team Takes First Place at Watkins Memorial

Grant Keefer passed for 119 yards and three touchdowns, Hyde ORielley caught a pass for 55 yards, had a 3-yard TD run and intercepted two passes on defense. Jayden Morales scored two touchdowns, caught a pass for 20 yards, had a 5-yard scoring run and intercepted a pass on defense.

After taking a 7-0 lead, the Irish fell behind Saturday as the Titans scored to take an 8-7 lead, but it was all Irish after that. They led 13-8 at halftime and scored 18 unanswered points to take control. Fisher Catholic forced four turnovers and had four sacks.

FOOTBALL

Bloom-Carroll 2, Bexley 1: The Bulldogs earned a hard-fought non-conference victory over the Lions, with Tessa Brooks and Mackenzie Haslett each scoring a goal and Lauryn Pinkerton making four saves.

Bloom-Carroll 11, Circleville 0: The Bulldogs cruised to a comfortable win over the Tigers in the MSL-Buckeye Division. Savannah Wilde and Davynn Miller each scored three goals, Brooks and Cameron Hartsook scored twice, and Hannah Wilson added a goal. Pinkerton had one save in goal.

Lancaster 4, Chillicothe 0: The Gales improved to 4-1 with a clean sweep of the Cavaliers, with Molly Stedman leading the way with two goals.

VOLLEYBALL

Bloom-Carroll: The Bulldogs remained undefeated at 6-0 after a 25-23, 25-14, 25-11 victory over the Hawks in an exhibition match.

Evelyn Brown had 15 kills and five blocks, Madison Lacy finished with 40 assists, Sienna Hogue had 18 saves and Corinne Knapp added 15 kills and 10 saves.

Fairfield 3 Christian Academy, Berne Union 1: The Knights remained undefeated (4-0) in the Mid-Sate League-Cardinal Division with a 25-14, 17-25, 25-17, 25-21 victory over the Rockets.

Nakayla Cash led the Knights with 11 points, four aces, 10 kills and 21 rebounds. Micaiah Herron had 24 points, two aces, 10 kills, two blocks and 18 rebounds, Samantha Rouser had 16 points, four aces, seven kills, 18 assists and 34 rebounds, Zarah Roby had two aces, eight kills, two blocks and 16 rebounds, Katy Smeltzer had 10 points, 10 kills and 19 rebounds and Abby Heisner had six points and two aces.

The Knights defeated Harvest Prep 25-13, 25-17, 25-6. Katy Smeltzer had 17 points, an ace, four kills, six assists and 10 digs, Zarah Roby had 11 points, four aces, 10 kills and a block, Micaiah Herron had 12 points and five, Abby Heisner had seven points, three aces and three kills. Samantha Rouser had four aces, four kills and 20 assists and Nakayla Cash had eight kills and eight digs.

The Knights lost to Crooksville in a friendly match 28-30, 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 13-15. Sam Rouser had 27 points, four aces, six kills, 13 assists and 52 saves, Micaiah Herron had 25 points, five aces, 12 kills, one block and 24 saves, Katy Smeltzer had 18 points and 33 saves, and Nakayla Cash had 11 points, three aces, seven kills and 28 saves.

GOLF

Fairfield Union: The Fairfield Union boys varsity golf team finished second in the MSL-Buckeye Division 2 match at Lancaster Golf with a team score of 344.

The bottom Falcon was Isaiah Delong with an 80, followed by Eli Wolfe with an 86, Caden Featheroff with an 87, Dylan Chilcote with a 91, Bryce Lepi with a 92 and Will Wolfe with a 105.

Lancaster Girls: The Gales lost 215-225 to Logan at Valley View Golf Course. Aubrie Bibler led the Gales with a 47, followed by Brennan Salapek (54), Nirvana Smith (58), Maddie Barnes (60), Skyler Smith (64) and Mya Gustafson (64).

Lancaster defeated Canal Winchester 200-225 at Winchester Golf Course. Molley Stedman scored 40 points to take the medalist spot, followed by Bibler (44), Salapek (58), Smith (58) and Barnes (63).

The Gales defeated Bloom-Carroll 118-208 in Valley View. Bibler led the team with 43 points, followed by Stedman (46), Salapek (48), Smith (52), Barnes (63) and Rylen Baer (67).

Lancaster Boys: The Gales played in the Pickerington North Invitational, held at Pine Hill Golf Course. The Gales shot 358, which was good for 12th place out of 16 teams. Jacob Miller shot 85 to lead the field. Gabe Betts shot 86, Zane Brengman 93, Bryson Branham 94 and Ben Richardson 97.

Fairfield Union: The Falcons competed in the Bob Darwin Invitational at Westchester Golf Course and finished 13th with a team score of 343. The Falcons’ bottom player was Isaiah Delong with a score of 80, followed by Bryce Lepi (85), Eli Wolfe (88), Dylan Chilcote (90) and Caden Featheroff (93).

Fairfield Christian Academy: The Knights won their third consecutive Mid-State League-Cardinal Division championship, winning their seventh straight league game by a score of 331.

Senior Harrison Teal led the Knights with a 79 to earn the match medal, followed by sophomore Connor Blair in second place with an 80. Sophomore Jonnie Sparks shot an 85 to tie for third, and sophomore Josh Witte finished sixth with an 87. Freshmen Jace Smith and Reilly Brant scored 100 and 102, respectively, to round out the Knights’ scoring.

TENNIS

Gahanna 3, Lancaster 2: Singles: Daniela Guzman (G) defeated Kynlee Baer 6-0, 6-4; Kaylee Akers (P) defeated Audrey Goh 7-5, 6-4; Kenzie White (P) defeated Presley Porcher 6-3, 6-3. Doubles: Anna Damratoski-Paige Hochstetler (G) defeated Brinkley Conklin-Tori Wellington 6-4, 6-4; Carolina McAuley-Ashleigh Witham (G) defeated Vivian Worthington-Addy Brown 6-4, 6-3.

Lancaster 5, Groveport 0: Baer beat Dia 6-0, 6-0, Akers beat Wright 6-0, 6-0, White beat Ring 6-0, 6-0, and in doubles Conklin-Wellington beat Maxwell-Blessing Brownell 6-0, 6-0 Worthington-Brown beat Dia-Amora Blackston 6-0, 6-0
