Centrex’s Ardmore Rock phosphate mine in north-west Queensland has successfully completed the delivery of 26,502 tonnes

The cargo was loaded onto the vessel between 26 and 31 August and the vessel successfully departed the Port of Townsville on 1 September. Delivery was made to existing customer Ardmore.

“I am delighted that our ongoing efforts have resulted in this record-breaking delivery and I look forward to many more in the coming months and years,” said Robert Mencel, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Centrex.

“Increasing our shipment volumes from the Port of Townsville is key to improving our international competitiveness and opening up new international markets.”

The record delivery follows successful stockpiling by Centrex in Ardmore, and is expected to provide sufficient volume for larger and more frequent deliveries throughout the rest of 2024 and beyond.

Deliveries from Ardmore are expected to support Centrex’s goal of reducing Ardmore’s operating expenses as part of its ongoing Phase 1.5 expansion.

Once the Phase 1.5 expansion is complete, annual production of upgraded phosphate concentrate is estimated to be 625,000 tonnes.

On 5 September, Centrex successfully transported 15,515 tonnes of enriched phosphate concentrate from the Port of Townsville.

The company’s next shipment is expected to be around 25,000 tonnes and will be loaded later this month. Centrex hopes the shipment will boost third-quarter 2024 sales to around 75,000 tonnes, up from an initial forecast of 70,000-80,000 tonnes.
